An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Trailing African Wild Animals, the 1921 Martin Johnson & Osa Johnson silent Africa jungle safari big game hunting adventure documentary ("The world's most perilous camera expedition"; "Mr. and Mrs. Martin Johnson's Trailing African Wild Animals") starring Martin Johnson, and Osa Johnson. Note that Osa Johnson was married to Martin Johnson, and that they made African documentary movies for 20 years, but Martin Johnson was killed in 1937 during the filming of "Borneo", but his wife finished the movie and released it after his death, and she also released one final movie, "I Married Adventure", in 1940, three years after her husband's death, and on that movie, she was billed as "Osa Johnson (Mrs. Martin Johnson)". This was one of the two dozen or so movies that the Johnsons made between 1912 and 1928, but very little survives on any of them. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this style of half-sheet, and we have only once before auctioned the other style of half-sheet (and it sold for $454)! Note that because the poster has condition issues, we don't want to roll the poster prior to mailing, because we believe that rolling the poster would likely lessen its condition even more. If you specifically request it, we will roll this poster, but you will not be able to return it. Otherwise, it will be sent in a large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30" (but it can be combined with other posters the same size, including ones that could be rolled). Please bear the expense of a large package in mind before bidding on this poster. Condition: good to very good. The poster has a stain in the middle left of the image, mostly in the background, but extending into the back of the giraffe. There are scattered stains beneath that and a similar stain in the middle of the left blank border. There are some faint stains around the edges. There are four tears in the borders that were repaired with tape from the back. This is the sort of poster that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the staining can be removed through chemical means, after which the poster will look fantastic, and it will likely require little paint restoration in the image.
