A 1943 Re-Release Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Lucky Ghost, the 1942 William X. Crowley black African American gambling horror comedy thriller ("You Can Bet Your Bottom Dollar It's Thrilling - Exciting - Funny!"; "Thrills! Chills! A Thriller-Diller laff sensation!"; "With an All Star Colored Cast!") starring Mantan Moreland, F.E. Miller (Flourney E. Miller), Florence O'Brien, Monty Hawley, and Maceo Bruce Scheffield. Note that Flourney Miller was a major figure in black Broadway musical history, performing and writing with his partner Aubrey Lyles. After Lyles passed away in 1933, Miller appeared in a number of all-black movies in the 1930s and 1940s. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is an extremely rare poster. We have only auctioned one from this 1943 re-release in all our years of auctioning and that was a decade ago! Note also that Toddy Pictures acquired the rights to this 1942 Dixie National Film Exchange movie which was originally titled "Lady Luck", re-titled it to "Lucky Ghost, and re-released it in 1943 with this full-color poster and again in 1948 with a duo-tone red & black poster. Because this Toddy Pictures poster is not marked as being a re-issue in any way, it is often mistakenly sold as original, but please bid knowing this poster is from the 1943 re-release! Condition: good. The poster has smudges, creases, defects, areas of paper loss and tears of varying lengths along parts of some edges (see our image). Portions of the folds have darkened and there are some tiny fold defects. After proper restoration the poster will display well, but bear in mind the poster's condition and the cost of restoration before bidding on it. Learn More about condition grades
