Date Sold 6/18/2017Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Promotional Movie Brochure (measures 13 1/2" x 14 1/4" [34 x 36 cm]; 20 pages) (Learn More) Devil Dogs of the Air, the 1935 Lloyd Bacon United States Marine Corps (USMC) post-World War I (WWI) military airplane aviation stunt pilot romantic love triangle comedy action thriller ("The Great Stars of 'Here Comes The Navy' Spread Their Wings!"; "Based on the story by John Monk Saunders"; the age-old story of a brash young pilot who joins the Marine Flying Corps, and he clashes with his older mentor and they fight over the same girl, but ultimately, he comes to see the value of patriotism to his comrades and his country) starring James Cagney, Pat O'Brien, Margaret Lindsay, Frank McHugh, and John Arledge NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we were consigned two examples of this rare brochure (see below for more about it). We auctioned the first example in March of 2017, and now we are auctioning the second example. After this auction, we will have no more of them, and we doubt we will ever see another! Also note that this oversized elaborate promo brochure was a special tie-in promotion between Warner Bros. and the Quaker Oats Company, tying in their new movie, "Devil Dogs of the Air", to customers buying Quaker Oats. It has 20 pages of elaborate promotions that would run in stores, with some images of James Cagney telling store owners that "Devil Dogs of the Air will sell a lot of Quaker and Mother's Oats for you". See our many images (we wish we could have shown you all the pages). Also note that James Cagney is referred to as "Jimmie" throughout the brochure (we have seen him called that, but it was always written "Jimmy"!). Condition: good. There is darkening and water stains around the edges of the cover, with some scuffs in the rest of it. The interior pages are in pretty nice condition, but have some wear around the edges, and there is a herald attached to one page that has some water staining. Note that one of the interior pages had a pocket attached to a page that reads "THIS ENVELOPE CONTAINS... NEWSPAPER PUBLICITY ARTICLES and TIE-UP ADS FOR LOCAL ADVERTISING...", but the pocket is empty, so whatever was originally in there is no longer present. Learn More about condition grades
