An Unfolded Italian Travel Poster (measures 27 1/2" x 39 1/4" [70 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Alitalia (a blending of the Italian words ali [wings] and Italia [Italy]) is the Italian flag carrier airline and was founded in 1946. It was formed as a result of an Anglo-Italian agreement and was funded by the Italian government and British European Airways (BEA). Unfortunately, the airline had financial difficulties for many years, and in 2008 the company went bankrupt. Compagnia Aerea Italiana (CAI) bought the Alitalia brand and reformed the airline but they continued to have issues, and the Italian government took full control of Alitalia in 2020. Artist: Luxardo Condition: good to very good. There is much tattering and creasing around the edges of the poster. There is a small stain in the background at left.
