Date Sold 4/12/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Dancing Lady, the 1933 Robert Z. Leonard romantic love triangle stage acting dancing musical comedy ("The new sensational musical romance!"; Crawford is an actress in a low class dance show, and she gets arrested, and rich Tone gets her a better job, but Gable, who runs that show, falls for her; Healy is Gable's assistant and Fred Astaire and Nelson Eddy appear as themselves) starring Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Franchot Tone, May Robson, Winnie Lightner, Fred Astaire (without Ginger Rogers!), Robert Benchley, Ted Healy and his Stooges (Moe Howard, Curly Howard, Larry Fine; his "stooges" would soon form their own act and become immortal as "The Three Stooges"), Sterling Holloway, and Nelson Eddy. Note that this was Fred Astaire's very first movie, which means that Joan Crawford was his first movie dance partner (and it was also the first movie where he wore a top hat and tails!). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 7 1/4" x 9 1/4" [18 x 23 cm]. Note that this great individual still (and a number of others) come from a recently discovered collection of mostly 1930s stills (but with some from the 1920s, and some from the 1940s and 1950s) that came from the estate of a longtime journalist who wrote about these movies and visited the sets of many movies and were given these stills at that time. They are all rare original stills from the first release of the movies, and some have cool candid images. This is an opportunity to acquire extremely rare stills, including some from movies you almost never see anything from! Also note that we are also currently auctioning a number of sets of stills (each from one movie) from this same collection, also in individual auctions. Condition: good to very good. The still was neatly trimmed on all four sides but is otherwise in nice condition! Learn More about condition grades
