An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Herald (measures 4" x 7" [10 x 18 cm]; 4 pages) (Learn More)

The Cat Creeps ...While the Canary Sleeps, the 1930 Rupert Julian haunted house horror mystery thriller ("The thrilling chilling spooky melodrama"; "Weird, baffling, fascinating drama! Eerie excitement! Shivery suspense!"; "From a John Willard smashing stage hit") starring Helen Twelvetrees, Raymond Hackett, Lilyan Tashman, Jean Hersholt, Neil Hamilton, Matagu Love, Theodore Von Eltz, Lawrence Grant, Elizabeth Patterson, and Blance Freuerici. Note that this was an early sound remake (just three years later) of the 1927 silent movie, "The Cat and the Canary", which had been directed by Paul Leni. As was popular for a brief time in 1930 and 1931, it was simultaneously made in a Spanish language version, "La voluntad del muerto", with an entirely different cast (headed by Antonio Moreno and Lupita Tovar), just as a Spanish language version of "Dracula" was made the following year (also by Universal). Note that this is a "lost" film which means that only a few minutes of footage is thought to exist.

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this herald, and that was 12 years ago. That example has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still the only example we have ever auctioned!

Condition: very good. A tiny amount of the printing on the back has slightly bled through to the right of the interior, but the herald is otherwise in really nice condition!
