"'Don't try to get rid of me for another woman... ...it won't work!"'; based on the novel 'Build My Gallows High' by Daniel Mainwaring; a great story of a private investigator who is hired by a gangster to find his missing mistress, and he does so, but then he falls for her, and starts a romance with her, even though he knows he is likely signing his death warrant) starring Robert Mitchum, Jane Greer, Kirk Douglas (in his third movie role!), Rhonda Fleming, Richard Webb, Steve Brodie, Dickie Moore, Virginia Huston, Paul Valentine, and Ken Niles NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that we have previously auctioned three examples of this one-sheet, but those were 26, 29, and 30 years ago (and they sold for prices ranging from $2,300 to $3,300)! We hope it won't be another 26 years before we auction it again, but it seems that those who own this poster are happy keeping it and don't re-offer it for sale! Also, note that William Rose is often credited with this artwork, but we cannot confirm that at this time. Condition: good. The poster has darkened somewhat. It has creases, small tears and small paper loss in the left 7" of the bottom fold. It has separation at the crossfolds and three tiny areas of paper loss in the top half of the vertical fold. It has pinholes in the corners and some tears and tiny paper loss in parts of the borders. If I owned this great and rare one-sheet I would surely give it to the best restorer I knew and then have it properly linenbacked. After linenbacking the poster will display really well, and it will likely require very little paint restoration! Learn More about condition grades
