An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Japanese "B3" or "Nakazuri" Movie Poster (14x20; measures 14" x 20" [36 x 51 cm]) (Learn More) Lady in the Lake, the 1947 Robert Montgomery detective mystery crime film noir ("MGM presents a Revolutionary motion picture The most amazing since Talkies began!"; "You and Robert Montgomery solve a murder mystery together!"; "MGM presents You and Robert Montgomery in Lady in the Lake"; "Based on the novel by Raymond Chandler"; this was a "gimmick" movie; the lead actor is not shown, and the entire movie is seen from his point of view!; the only time you see him is in mirrors; this was a pretty lame idea, and it is not surprising it was only done once!; oddly, MGM shows Montgomery in the lobby cards; perhaps they were already afraid of the wacky premise prior to its release!) starring Robert Montgomery (as Phillip Marlowe), Audrey Totter, Lloyd Nolan, Tom Tully, Leon Ames, and Jayne Meadows NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, immediately after World War II, the U.S. occupied Japan and part of Germany, and many American movies were shown in both countries between 1945 and the end of the occupation. Most of the Japanese posters we have seen from that period and many of the German posters and programs from the same period have a "Motion Picture Export Association" circular printed logo on the poster or program, and apparently this was a program run in conjunction with the U.S. government. Since there were many U.S. servicemen in Japan and Germany at this time, many of these posters and programs have the title written in both Japanese (or German) and in English, and they are from the first release of that movie in that country. Condition: very good. There are some minor creases and a few tiny dot stains scattered throughout the poster but they are not very noticeable and the poster is in pretty nice condition especially considering its age.
