Note that John Whitney Sr. (who did the spiral title sequence for the movie) also did the spiral art for the posters from this movie, which was utilized by the poster artist Saul Bass. Also note that Alfred Hitchcock did not make a final decision on what to name this movie until the last minute! At various times, it had working titles of Darkling I Listen, Fear and Trembling, From Among the Dead, and Illicit Darkening. Many of the early advertising stills don't have a title at all, but say "An Alfred Hitchcock Production". Personally, we think "Vertigo" is a better title than any of those other four! Finally, note that critical acclaim for this movie has consistently risen in the years since it was first released. In fact, in the 2012 "Sight and Sound" poll of top movie critics, Vertigo was declared to be the number one film of all time, over Citizen Kane, and every other masterpiece! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this 1963 re-release lobby card group has images that are completely different from any of those from the 1958 set, and that set was only 2-color, while this re-release group is in full-color, and the cards from it are surely much more rare than those from the 1958 first release! Condition: good to very good. Each has one tiny pair of staple holes in the upper center blank border only. Card #1 has a small burn mark in Novak's cheek in the left border image (see our image). It does not burn through the paper but is quite noticeable. It otherwise has some light scuffing within the image. Card #5 has light scuffing in the image and a partial horizontal crease at right. Card #6 has some scuffing within the image and a faint smudge near the right of "Technicolor". Card #7 has some faint scuffing in the image and a small stain in the upper left blank border only. Card #8 has scuffing in a few areas of the image and border and it and card #1 have some slight discoloration in portions of the right and left edges due to some tape on back of both (not put there for any restoration purpose, typical of vintage lobby cards.) Overall the majority of the cards are in generally nice condition, but please read the above, see our super-sized image and bear in mind the more significant defect on card #1 before placing a bid.
