An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Chandu the Magician, the 1932 William Cameron Menzies & Marcel Varnel science fiction (sci-fi) fantasy adventure thriller ("From the radio drama by Harry A. Earnshaw & R.R. Morgan"; about a scientist who invents a "death ray", and a madman kidnaps him, but Chandu the Magician shows up and rescues the scientist) starring Edmund Lowe (in the title role as Chandu the Magician), Irene Ware, Bela Lugosi (as Roxor, the kidnapping madman), Herbert Mundin, Henry B. Walthall, and Weldon Heyburn. Note that Chandu the Magician was a radio show that started airing in Los Angeles in 1931, and went nationwide the following year. That was also when this movie version was made. Two years later, a sequel, The Return of Chandu, was made, and this time, Bela Lugosi played the lead role, after having a supporting role in this one. The show went off the air in 1936. It was revived in 1948 as a 15 minute show and ran for two years. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline).
