Mr. Magoo is a cartoon character created at the UPA animation studio in 1949. He was an ultra near-sighted older man who continually got into trouble because of his refusal to wear glasses. I doubt we will see similar comedies in today's politically correct world! He was voiced by actor Jim Backus (of Gilligan's Island fame).
