eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 2p0036 DANGEROUS CURVES WC 1929 great art of sexy Clara Bow close up & full-length, ultra rare! Date Sold 8/2/2022Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Movie Window Card (WC; measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]) (Learn More) Dangerous Curves, the 1929 Lothar Mendes circus romantic love triangle melodrama ("The Inimitable Clara Bow Will Thrill You Again!"; about a pretty young girl working at the circus as a bareback rider, sometimes in full clown makeup; she is in love with the handsome trapeze artist, but he has fallen for a beautiful vamp played by an extremely young Kay Francis!) starring Clara Bow ("SEE and HEAR her talk!"), Richard Arlen, Kay Francis, David Newell, and Anders Randolf. Note that Clara Bow was the most famous "flapper girl" of the mid to late 1920s (she became known as "The It Girl" after the character she played based on the popular novel by Elinor Glyn). She had a major role in Wings, and was Paramount's biggest star at that time. But she had a notorious private life and seemingly "settled down" when she married cowboy star Rex Bell in 1931 (she had two children and she retired from movies), but sadly in 1949 she went into a mental institution after a failed suicide attempt (she had had psychiatric issues for quite some time) and she was released but never returned to her family, and lived alone until her death in 1965. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this window card was almost surely found in the back of a picture frame, and it had been trimmed and it now measures 12" x 16" [30 x 41 cm]. It is very fortunate that the majority of the image, title and credits remain, because what was lost in the top of the card was blank background and what was lost on the right of the card was small parts of two letters and the right of Bow's skirt. One could restore the missing area, or one could choose to live with it as it is! Either way, the new owner of this card will have an extremely rare window card because we only sold one other example of it and that one had the same trimming this one did, but it also had other defects that this one lacks, and other than that one other trimmed one, we have never auctioned another example of this window card. Condition: fair to good. The card was trimmed, and it affects approximately 1 1/2" of the right of the image (see above). Because it is easy to guess at what is missing, any talented restorer could replace the missing area, even if one can't locate a complete image of this card (which we have never auctioned before). Also, because the card was almost surely not exposed to light, the colors are very bright, which is a big plus. Learn More about condition grades
