An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Dimples, the 1936 William A. Seiter Depression-era juvenile musical comedy ("Shirley has a new somebody to love"; "Dances staged by Bill Robinson") starring Shirley Temple, Frank Morgan, Helen Westley, Robert Kent, Delma Byron, Astrid Allwyn, Stepin Fetchit, Berton Churchill, Paul Stanton, Julius Tannen, Herman Bing, Billy McClain, The Hall Johnson Choir, The Two Black Dots (Jesse Scott and Thurman Black, two black African American teenage singers who appeared in just a few movies in the 1930s, including this), Greta Meyer, and Arthur Aylesworth. It is interesting to note that even though Stepin Fetchit (famed black African American actor of the 1930s and 1940s) was only sixth billed in this movie, his billing is as large as the second through fifth billed actors combined, showing that the studio knew full well that he drew people to their movies! Maturo Important Added Info: Note that after the passing of Will Rogers in 1935, Shirley Temple was 20th Century-Fox's number one star, and they assigned their finest artist, Joseph A. Maturo, to create beautiful stone litho posters for each of Shirley Temple's films, with a different poster for every different size! Also note that this poster was originally part of the "Carson Collection", the incredible collection of posters assembled by Richard Allen, the legendary early collector. He had all of his posters professionally paperbacked, even the ones (like this one) that were in flawless condition, just for preservation purposes! Note that because this poster was paperbacked onto a thin backing, it can be sent rolled in a tube, but we would recommend shipping it in a flat package so as to be sure not to damage it. What IS paperbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fine. Prior to paperbacking, the poster had the tiniest of paper loss at the crossfolds and the most minor of fold and border wear. Overall, the poster was in fine condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was displayed in a frame and it was "floated" in the frame with pieces of conservation tape on the back of the top corners, and two pieces each on the back of the left and right borders, and one on the back of the center of the top border (and of course, that conservation tape does not affect the front). The poster is incredible condition, and one could not find a better example of this poster! Learn More about condition grades
