Artist: Averardo Ciriello Important Added Info: Note that this is the very rare first Italian release poster for this classic James Bond movie. There is a different Italian poster from a 1970s re-release with a central image of Connery pointing a gun that is often mistakenly sold as first release, but it is not. We have only auctioned this poster twice before, and the first time was 20 years ago! However, we have seen two versions of both the Italian one-panel and the Italian locandina that both appear to be original, and both have the same image, but in both cases they have very slightly different writing at the bottom, and one has a 1964 at the bottom, and the other has no date. We don't know if one of these printings predates the other, and if so, which. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. But know that the one-panel poster offered here is the version that DOES have the date 1964 at the bottom. Note that it is difficult to accurately date Italian posters, and some unmarked re-release posters can be extremely difficult to distinguish from first releases, so please bear that in mind before you place a bid. We used our best information to date this poster, but we can't always guarantee that the Italian posters we sell are not from an unmarked re-release, but this will only prove to be true in a very tiny number of cases. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The entire poster had darkened. It had minor wear on the foldlines and smudges and tack holes around the edges, with small surface paper loss scattered in the bottom credits area. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above (see our image). Learn More about condition grades
