An Unfolded Advertising Poster (measures 25 1/4" x 37" [64 x 94 cm]) (Learn More) Martini is a brand of Italian vermouth named after the Martini & Rossi Distilleria Nazionale di Spirito di Vino, and located in Turin, Italy. Martini was part of a three-owner distillery in 1863 before changing the name to Martini & Rossi in 1879. The brand may have given the American martini vermouth and gin cocktail its name. Artist: Leonetto Cappiello Important Added Info: Note that this is the second authorized edition of this great Leonetto Cappiello poster for the "Vermouth Martini" company, printed at the end of the 1950s (perhaps 1958), and it originally measured 28" x 39" (but the example we are auctioning has had almost all of its blank borders trimmed off). The first edition of this poster from the 1920s is beyond rare! The design was also used for a metal sign created by this company. You may have also seen this image in modern reproductions. Condition: good to very good. Most of the blank borders were trimmed off (no doubt to fit a frame). There are creases in the background area above the "E" of "VERMOUTH" and several smaller creases scattered throughout the poster. There is a 1/2" tear in the upper left border (see our image).
