An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Mayor of Hell, the 1933 Archie Mayo & Michael Curtiz juvenile reform school crime thriller (most of the plot of this movie was later borrowed for the Dead End Kids movie "Crime School", which featured Bogart in the Cagney role; in this one, Cagney is a former street kid who becomes Deputy Commissioner of Corrections, and he takes over the running of a reform school, and uses radical methods to try to rehabilitate the kids instead of beating them into submission) starring James Cagney, Madge Evans, Arthur Byron, Allen 'Farina' Hoskins, Allen Jenkins, Dudley Digges, and Frankie Darro NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that first release 1933 movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have only previously auctioned a herald and six lobby cards from this movie, and this was one of those six cards (the person who purchased this card has now re-consigned it to us). Note that there is a stamp on the back that reads "FROM THE COLLECTION OF Michael R. Hawks", who most would consider the premier lobby card collector and expert in the world (and he is still an active collector, looking for the last few items he needs!). Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fine. Note that this lobby card is in excellent condition and is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back of the card! The new owner of this card will find it hard to believe that the card was not recently created, but we assure you it is 100% original from 1933, even though it has survived so amazingly well!
