An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Singin' in the Rain, the classic 1952 Stanley Donen & Gene Kelly romantic musical comedy (considered by most the best musical of all time!; "What a glorious feeling"; "MGM's Technicolor Musical Treasure!"; "Suggested by the song 'Singin' In the Rain'"; about a Hollywood movie studio in the late 1920s that wants to begin making sound pictures, but their top leading lady has a dreadful voice, plus they have great difficulties adapting to the sound equipment; pretty young Debbie Reynolds comes along to dub in the singing voice of the primadonna leading lady, played to perfection by Jean Hagen) starring Gene Kelly (as Don Lockwood), Donald O'Connor (as Cosmo Brown), Debbie Reynolds (as Kathy Selden), Jean Hagen (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Lina Lamont), Millard Mitchell (as R.F. Simpson), and Cyd Charisse (unnamed, only referred to as "Dancer"). Note that this greatest of all Hollywood musicals had an odd beginning! The title song had been sung in "The Hollywood Revue of 1929" by Cliff Edwards, and that inspired this movie, and in addition, the song "Make 'Em Laugh" was basically plagiarized from "Be a Clown", from "The Pirate"! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. There are tears and small areas of paper loss in the top border, and a 3" tear in the top of the vertical foldline that was repaired with clear tape from the back. The right half of the top horizontal foldline was completely separated and there is clear tape on the back of that and clear tape on some of the back of the left half of the top border as well. There was small paper loss at the right end of the top foldline and someone taped a small piece of paper to the back of that area. There were a few tears in the bottom border and small paper loss in the middle of the bottom blank border. There were pinholes around the edges of the poster. There is a small piece of clear tape on the back of the bottom foldline. The poster is in better condition than the above makes it sound! None of the defects are very significant, and most are in the blank borders. After a simple linenbacking by a talented professional, this classic poster will look wonderful, and there will be little paint restoration anywhere on the poster! Learn More about condition grades
