An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Insert Movie Poster (measures 14" x 36") (Learn More) The Asphalt Jungle, the classic 1950 John Huston (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) crime film noir ("MGM presents the story of the city under the city."; "From a novel by W.R. Burnett"; about a "perfect robbery" with a team of top professionals, but of course, everything unravels, partially through double-crosses; perhaps the best movie of its kind!) starring Sterling Hayden, Louis Calhern, Jean Hagen, James Whitmore, Sam Jaffe (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), John McIntire, Marilyn Monroe, Marc Lawrence, Barry Kelley, Anthony Caruso, Teresa Celli, Brad Dexter, Don Haggerty, and Daniel Clarke NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that Marilyn Monroe was a virtual unknown when this movie was released in 1950, and did not even receive billing on the posters. Yet, the poster designers recognized the value of having a sexy woman's image, and she appears twice on this insert (one a full-length picture), and she does not appear at all on most of the other posters. In 1954, the movie received a full-scale re-release, and MGM billed Marilyn Monroe as though she was a major star of the movie! Also note that this poster has never been folded! Most insert posters were folded twice horizontally right off of the printing press. It is very difficult to find an unfolded copy of most inserts, especially from before 1970! Condition: very good to fine. there is a mark over the NSS number at lower right and a new NSS number is stamped in the lower right corner (note that this is the original insert, but that it was re-used for a re-release, and the new number was stamped on for use at that time); there is a series light horizontal creases through the poster but more so in the top 4" of the poster (probably caused by being roughly handled while being rolled and unrolled), but none of them are very noticeable or distracting; there are a few smudges, creases, and extremely tiny tears around the edges of the poster. Overall, this poster's minor defects pretty much completely vanish from any distance away, and it is unfolded, too! Learn More about condition grades
