Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Australian Lobby Card Movie Poster (measures approximately 30" x 40") (Learn More) Avalanche Express, the 1979 Mark Robson railroad train spy espionage crime action thriller ("When he stepped aboard this train the most powerful man in Europe became the most dangerous man in the World."; "Based on the Novel by Colin Forbes"; "Screenplay by Abraham Polonsky") starring Lee Marvin, Robert Shaw (in his final movie role; he died while the movie was in production), Linda Evans, Maximilian Schell, Mike Connors, Horst Bucholz, Claudio Cassinelli, and Joe Namath ("as Leroy"; the famous football sports quarterback of the New York Jets & Alabama's Crimson Tide) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Condition: very good. Note that this poster is one of a group of Australian lobby card posters (also called "photosheets" or "photo one-sheets"). This is a very rare type of poster solely made in Australia, and they are almost never offered for sale (over the past three years we have sold many thousands of Australian posters, and we have NEVER sold a single one of these before)! These posters were designed to be used by theater owners in one of two ways. They could be displayed as is, or cut up to create six "lobby cards", and a small banner (note that these are NOT perforated as are lobby card sheets from some other countries; you need to actually cut them to turn them into lobby cards). NOTE THAT ALL THESE POSTERS ARE COMPLETELY UNCUT! When they were cut, theater owners would put the banner on the box office glass, or on the theater door. It may be that these posters are so difficult to find because so many of them WERE cut up, and few uncut ones survive. Also note that included in the group we are selling are some rare country-of-origin posters from some classic Australian movies! top 1/4" folded back at one time; minor creases and scuffing throughout the poster (more so along the foldlines) Learn More about condition grades
