An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Speed King, the 1923 Grover Jones silent motorcycle-champion-in-fictional-European-contry romantic racing sports melodrama (the age old plot of a man who is an exact double of a King, in this case, the mythical country of Mandavia; there is an interesting twist in this case in that the man is a motorcycle champion [no doubt because star Richard Talmadge was an expert stuntman and wanted a chance to perform some in this romantic melodrama!]; he of course ends up having to stand in for the King, and he of course falls in love with the Princess, and he of course rescues the king, and I don't know if he gets to marry the Princess!) starring Richard Talmadge, Virginia Warwick, Mark Fenton, and Harry von Meter. Note that Richard Talmadge was born "Sylvester Alphonse Metz", and he was an acrobat with the Barnum and Bailey Circus. He got a job in Hollywood as a stuntman for Douglas Fairbanks Sr., and then graduated to starring in movies, always performing lots of stunts. He had two acrobat brothers, Otto Metzetti and Victor Metz, who appeared with him in some of his movies. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. There is 6" of separation at the center of the top foldline and 2" of separation at the bottom foldline with tiny paper loss at the crossfolds. Otherwise, the poster is in pretty nice condition, and after a simple linenbacking, this beautiful stone litho will look fantastic! Learn More about condition grades
