WIN FREE PASSES! Sit thru it all, and we give you a FREE 2 for 1 pass to a near future movie!"; "ALL NEW 1965 EDITION! 1000 NEW SURPRISES!"; "On Stage"; "Hey, man! Dig this crazy show for a real gone thriller!"; "That crazy mixed-up Dr. Jekyl and his Weird Show"; "MONSTERS! Grab girls from audience"; "GIRLS! Can your boy friend take it?"; "Fantastic congress of horrors! The dead brought back from their graves.") that was held at the Rex Theatre in Bay Minette, Alabama. This was a poster for a "spook show" of the 1930s ("spook shows" started in the 1930s, and continued into the late 1960s, with their greatest prominence in the late 1940s and 1950s). Local theaters would book three to five low budget movies, and then advertise them as a late night "spook show". Often they would have "live" acts on stage (sometimes famous actors who had appeared in monster movies would appear on stage in full make up, and sometimes it would be local actors dressed as monsters), and often the posters would make outrageous promises (sometimes they might say a person would be beheaded on stage, etc!). Not too many of these spook show posters survive (almost all the known surviving ones are window cards, some of which are 14" x 22", and some of which are 22" x 28", and the shows certainly had very limited runs). The few "spook show" window cards that DO survive are rarely in even "very good" condition. Important Added Info: Note that this jumbo window card will need to be sent in a very large flat package that measures approximately 24" x 30" x 1" high, so please bear the shipping costs of this very large package in mind BEFORE you place a bid! Condition: very good. The poster was folded down the middle at one time and there are some smudges in the background areas. There are three extremely tiny holes in the bottom center of the poster.
