An Original Vintage Theatrical 8" x 10" Movie Still (Learn More)

The Public Defender, the 1931 J. Walter Ruben mystery crime thriller (the title does not refer to a person employed to defend people without representation themselves, because that did not exist in 1931!; instead, the movie is about Dix leading a double life, both as a rich playboy, and as the mysterious avenger of wronged people known as "The Reckoner") starring Richard Dix, Shirley Grey, Ruth Weston, Paul Hurst, Edmund Bresse, Purnell Pratt, and Boris Karloff (8th billed, as "The Professor"). Note that this movie was one of an amazing 16 movies that Boris Karloff appeared in in 1931. Another one of those was, of course, "Frankenstein", which elevated him from minor bad guy to major star, but because this movie was released three months earlier, he was not credited or pictured on the posters (after all, he was only 8th billed)! The only way to get an image of him from this movie is finding a lobby card or still that shows him!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note that there is a paper snipe glued on the back of the still that describes the scene on the front (it does not affect the front of the still). Also note that there is a stamp on the back of the still (from the studio that distributed it). Note that the movie is called "The Million Dollar Swindle" on the snipe on the back of this still, which was the working title for this movie!

Condition: very good to fine.
