An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22") (Learn More)

The Singing Kid, the 1936 William Keighley romantic musical melodrama (about a Broadway star who starts to lose his voice and who goes to the country to recuperate, and he meets a talented child singer; Jolson's star was waning at this time, and Warner Bros. loaded the movie with top specialty acts of the day) starring Al Jolson, Sybil Jason (in the title role as the singing kid), Lyle Talbot, Claire Dodd, Edward Everett Horton, Allen Jenkins, the Yacht Club Boys, and Cab Calloway ("and his Band"). Note that this is the movie where Al Jolson sings "I Love to Singa", which was parodied in a memorable Chuck Jones/Tex Avery Warner Bros. cartoon called "I Love to Singa", and starring a baby owl that is born to be a jazz singer!

Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards.

Condition: very good. The card had some creases, scuffs, and faint water stains scattered throughout, but was otherwise in pretty good condition prior to paperbacking. A talented restorer paperbacked the card and performed slight restoration (including slightly bleaching the card). The card displays well and the faint image defects are not noticeable from any reasonable viewing distance, and yet the card does not have a "restored" look.
