Alias, Mike Moran, the 1919 James Cruze silent World War I (WWI) mistaken identity romantic melodrama (from the story by Frederick Orin Bartlett; an incredibly clever story of a man who wants to marry a rich woman, so he pretends to be rich and romances what he thinks is a rich woman, but she herself is also pretending; next, he is about to be drafted, but he doesn't want to lose the woman he thinks is rich, and he meets an ex-con who can't be drafted because of his criminal record, and they agree to swap identities, so that the ex-con can be drafted, and the other man can avoid being drafted; however, when the draft dodger learns that the ex-con has been killed in action, he is overcome with remorse, and he goes to Canada and enlists there; he is sent to France, where he serves honorably and loses a hand, and in the hospital, he meets his former girlfriend, who is working as a nurse there, and they both confess to all their lies, and they are reunited; and they try to charge the draft dodger, but given that he gave his hand for his country, they refuse to follow through!) starring Wallace Reid, Ann Little, Emory Johnson (in the title role as Mike Moran), Charles Ogle, and Edythe Chapman. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist.
