An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Advance One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 25 1/4" x 39 1/4" [64 x 100 cm]) (Learn More) Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the 1979 Robert Wise futuristic science fiction (sci-fi) outer space adventure thriller ("The Human Adventure Is Just Beginning."; "There Is No Comparison."; "The Motion Picture"; "Story by Alan Dean Foster"; "Screenplay by Harold Livingston") starring William Shatner (as Captain James T. Kirk), Leonard Nimoy (as Mr. Spock), DeForest Kelley (as Dr. "Bones" McCoy), James Doohan (as Commander Montgomery "Scotty" Scott), George Takei (as Lieutenant Commander Hikaru Sulu), Walter Koenig (as Chekov), Nichelle Nichols (as Lieutenant Commander Uhura), Majel Barrett, Persis Khambatta (billed as "presenting Persis Khambatta"), Stephen Collins ("as Lt. Willard Decker"; "as Decker"), and Grace Lee Whitney. Note that the Star Trek TV show went off the air in 1969, with a cult following, but without a lot of general success. But there was enough interest built up over the following years that this movie was made in 1979. Three years later, Nicholas Meyer wrote and directed a sequel, "Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan", which was a giant critical and commercial success, and led to all the many sequels and spin-offs in the years since! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Roger Huyssen Important Added Info: Note that while this poster lacks a rating and could have also been used internationally, a knowledgeable collector tells us that it was definitely sent to theaters in the U.S. almost a year in advance of the film being released. The collector confirms that 25x39 is the original size (it has not been trimmed) and that the poster was difficult to use in standard theater displays because of the heavy paper stock and odd size. Also, note that this poster is printed with the title area in an embossed foil, which is really cool! Condition: good. The poster has darkened somewhat and it has several creases throughout, as well as some patchy slight discoloration (mostly on back of the upper quarter.
