6 Original Vintage Theatrical Dutch Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 8 3/4" x 10 3/4" [22 x 27 cm]) (Learn More)

Captain America, the 1944 Elmer Clifton & John English Marvel Comics (at the time known as "Atlas Comics"!) comic book superhero crime fighting fantasy serial ("Based on the Character appearing in Captain America Comics"; "A Republic Serial in 15 Chapters") starring Dick Purcell (in the title role as Captain America; he died just a few months after shooting finished), Lorna Gray, Lionel Atwill, Charles Trowbridge, George J. Lewis, and John Hamilton. Note that this was the very first Marvel Comics character to be turned into a movie, and we don't know how faithful the adaptation was (in the movie, Captain America uses a gun, and we don't remember him ever doing that in the comics!).

Important Added Info: Note that these lobby cards were created by the distributor by creating a set of stiff board printed backings, with a blank space for a still, and then they would attach a number of stills to a number of different boards, thus creating a set of lobby cards (similar to Swiss lobby cards but these appear to be Dutch based on an ink pad stamp on the back of the cards). If anyone knows more about these cards, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that these stills measure 8 3/4" x 10 3/4" [22 x 27 cm].

Condition: good to very good. There are scratches in the stars' images in the card pictured at middle right. There is a distributor snipe and embossed censor stamp in the background of the cards. There are some tack holes around the edges of the cards (mostly in the corners). The cards are otherwise in pretty nice condition.
