Artist: Chrichard Important Added Info: These books were usually offered one year after the Cape first editions, and some share the same Jonathan Cape artwork, but after the 'Thunderball' painting was damaged while on loan in America, Cape would no longer lend out the original art. Because of this, the Book Club commissioned their own action packed and striking cover designs. Note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. We have also included an image of the dust jacket removed from the book, and completely opened, so you can see the entire jacket, including the flaps. Note that we are not rare book dealers, but we have auctioned thousands of movie related hardcover and softcover books. When we do so, we picture the cover of the book, the title page, and the page with the printing information, so that should allow everyone to quickly identify whatever information they need as to what edition of the book it is (and the images should also give you a good sense of the exact condition of the book in addition to what we wrote below). If you have a correction or addition to the information we list, please e-mail us and we will post it here.
UPDATED 04/07/2014: Note that a knowledgeable collector tells us that the 11 English Book Club edition novels that we are currently offering in separate auctions (including this one) are from a complete set. The Book Club was initially known as the Reprint Society (as can be seen on their first Bond novel "Live and Let Die") and they published 11 of the 14 Ian Fleming Bond books. Condition: very good. The dust jacket was printed with "RECENT AND FORTHCOMING THRILLER BOOK CLUB SELECTIONS" on the back of the top of the dust jacket, and they overprinted the "THRILLER BOOK CLUB" part with black (no doubt because the author objected!). The person who owned this particular copy of the book saw they could read the overprinted writing, and they wrote it in below that area in pen! There are also stains on the back cover of the jacket. There is a date written on the first blank interior page. Other than the above, the book and the jacket are in nice condition. Learn More about condition grades
