An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (27" x 41") (Learn More) The Dark Past, the 1949 Rudolph Mate crime film noir ("This is a KILLER WITHOUT CONSCIENCE!"; "Killer's End!"; "An extraordinary SUSPENSE drama!"; "The story of a KILLER WITHOUT CONSCIENCE!"; about an escaped murderer who takes a police psychologist's family hostage, and he talks to the doctor, and reveals he has deep mental illness that involves a recurring nightmare) starring William Holden, Nina Foch, Lee J. Cobb, Adele Jergens, Stephen Dunne, Lois Maxwell, Kathryn Card and Ellen Corby NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster was linenbacked, but it was either NOT linenbacked by a very talented restorer, OR it was linenbacked many years ago, and has received rough handling over the years, OR it had fairly significant defects that were not restored at all. If it was restored, you can clearly see signs of the restoration even from a distance. This is a poster that would surely benefit from additional professional restoration. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). The poster had extra creases and tears along the middle and bottom foldlines and some paper loss in the left of the middle foldline. It had some wear on the other foldlines and some border defects. This poster was not linenbacked all that well! If I owned this poster, I would either have it re-backed, or have a restorer try to do additional touch up to the above defects without re-backing the poster. In any event, please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects, or are willing to pay to have the poster re-restored! Learn More about condition grades
