A Vintage Hardcover Book (measures 12 1/2" x 18" [32 x 46 cm]; 453 pages) (Learn More) Valley of the Cliffhangers, the incredible 1975 Jack Mathis Republic Studios serials hardcover tribute book featuring artwork, photographs, cast listings, and information about several of the popular Republic serials from the 1930s to the 1950s such as Darkest Africa, Undersea Kingdom, Dick Tracy, The Lone Ranger, Adventures of Red Ryder, Captain America, Son of Zorro, Canadian Mounties vs. Atomic Invaders, and King of the Carnival. Note that Jack Mathis LOVED the Republic serials, and he spent a staggering amount of money preparing this deluxe massive hardcover coffee table book with 453 pages! We have pictured a sampling of the pages, and please know that all of the pages are like the samples! The only other publications I have ever seen that rival this are the $300 Russ Cochran tribute books for Hopalong Cassidy (and his earlier 3 volume set on Edgar Rice Burroughs). This book was published at $75 in 1975 and quickly sold out. I have seen it sell at auction for as much as $2,000, and it is rarely offered for sale or auction, likely because the original buyers just don't want to sell theirs! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this book has a great provenance! It was purchased from Jack Mathis in 1975 by Marty Kelly, one of the greatest and earliest fans of serials and B-westerns! He collected mostly lobby cards and had a staggering collection of extreme rarities. After his passing, his family consigned his collection to eMoviePoster.com, and we have auctioned it, and now we are auctioning this book, which he cherished! Note: We have 16 images of the books in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 16 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 6. Note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads. Condition: very good to fine. The book is in excellent condition (see our many images)! Learn More about condition grades
