An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Argentinean Movie Poster (measures approximately 29" x 43" [74 x 109 cm]) (Learn More)

a stock poster for Argentinean theaters showing Maria Felix movies in the 1940s. The only example of this stock poster we have auctioned is from 1948, and it has a great artwork image of Maria Felix with her name at the bottom, and below it, it has what appears to be an overprinted title for "Que dios me Perdone". We have not auctioned other examples with other movies overprinted, but it is likely that they exist (or once existed). Of course, Maria Felix was a beautiful Mexican actress from the 1940s to the 1970s. Because she refused to learn English, she never appeared in any English language movies! Some of her movies include: Dona Barbara, Rio Escondido, and Enamorada. She passed away in 2002 at the age of 88.
Artist: P. Gitezky (spelling?)
Important Added Info: Note that we have never before auctioned this Argentinean stock poster (it is the one referred to in the description above)!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good. The poster had creases, tears, and small paper loss on parts of the folds, and there was an extra horizontal fold near to the middle one. It had some darkening in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can clearly see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
