An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked French One-Panel Movie Poster (measures 47" x 63"; known as a 'grande' poster in France) (Learn More)

The Silent House, the 1929 Walter Forde English silent mystery crime thriller (based on the play by John G. Brandon & George Pickett) starring Mabel Poulton, Gibb McLaughlin (in yellowface!), Arthur Pusey, Gerald Rawlinson, Albert Brouett, and Rex Maurice
Artist: Tamagno
Important Added Info: Also note that this French one-panel measures 47" x 63".

Condition: very good. The poster had a semi-circular scuff mark in the background area to the left of the "DU" of the title. There was very tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and some creases and tiny tears on some foldlines. The poster had darkened somewhat, more so at the ends of the foldlines. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was linenbacked many years ago, on a thin linen, and (as was often the custom at that time) the restorer left excess linen at the top and bottom only, but not at the sides. The poster was roughly handled over the years, and there are now many creases, tears, and some tiny areas of paper loss in the extreme right edge of the right blank border, and a much lesser amount in the left border. If I owned this great poster (with a really wild image!), I would surely have it re-backed by a talented professional, after which, it will look fantastic!
