An Original Vintage Studio Booklet (measures 3 3/4" x 4 1/4" [10 x 11 cm]) (Learn More)

The Screen Forecast ("The Big Parade of Stars"), the 1927-28 MGM 32-page booklet distributed to theater owners. Starting in the mid 1920s, MGM created studio yearbooks that were deluxe large publications sent to theater owners (to try to get them to book their upcoming movies), but they also (alone among the studios) created one of these small booklets each year that were distributed to people who went to the movies. Each measured around 3 3/4" x 4 1/4", and contained around 32 pages. This one is the one from 1927-28, and it contains information about their upcoming movies and stars, including a great 2-page article on Lon Chaney ("The Man of 1,000 Faces") with a montage of nine images from his previous movies, and also mentioning he is about to make three new movies. One of them is called "The Hypnotist", but that was a working title, and it ended up being called "London After Midnight", maybe the most famous "lost" film of all time (they used an image from "The Unknown" next to the Hypnotist announcement, likely because filming had not yet started. There are also illustrated articles on Lillian Gish, Norma Shearer, John Gilbert, Greta Garbo, Marion Davies, William Haines, Our Gang, and others). There is a 2-page center spread of their top stars in a group photo, with their famous tagline "More Stars Than Are In Heaven". These "The Screen Forecast" booklets are incredibly rare!
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this booklet, and that was 6 years ago, when it sold for $336!

Condition: good to very good. There is darkening and faint stains on both covers, but not on the interior pages. There is paper loss in the bottom right corner of the cover and in the left of the top border of the cover, but only blank paper is affected. See our many images to get a good sense of the condition of this very rare studio booklet.
