His parents were Greek immigrants, and he was born in New York City. Some of his roles include: The Dirty Dozen, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, The Birdman Of Alcatraz (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), and the title character on TV's "Kojak". He passed away in 1994 at the age of 72. Important Added Info: This page has been personally autographed (signed) by Telly Savalas! Note that this signed item is from the personal collection of Nevart Apikian, who wrote an entertainment column for the Syracuse Post Standard for nearly 50 years. It was acquired from her estate after her passing. In the case of this particular item, it has not been personalized to her. It is a shrink-wrapped record together with a signed paper that has "With the compliments of" printed at the top (and it was likely once taped to the album), so we suspect that Savalas' company sent these records to many media people, including Ms. Apikian. Included with the signed item is the 1974 album "Telly". The page could be matted with the album and framed together to make a cool display! As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. Condition: good to very good. The record is in its original shrink wrap, but it has scuffs and paper loss in the bottom right corner.
