An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Photobusta Movie Poster (pbusta; measures 18 1/4" x 26 1/2" [46 x 67 cm]) (Learn More)

Satyricon (released in the U.S. in 1972 as "The Degenerates"), the 1969 Gian Luigi Polidoro Italian sexploitation melodrama starring Tina Aumont, Don Backy, Mario Carotenuto, Franco Fabrizi, Graziella Granata, Tiffany Hoyveld, Valerie Lagrange, and Ugo Tognazzi. This movie was made shortly before Federico Fellini made his movie "Fellnii Satyricon" (Fellini tried to register the name, but Polidoro had registered it first). So United Artists, which had invested a fortune in Fellini Satyricon bought the rights to this movie for over a million dollars in 1969, but did not release it until 1972 (under the name "The Degenerates"), so that it could not be confused with the Fellini movie or hurt its box office! Please note that Federico Fellini had NOTHING to do with this movie!
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one Italian photobusta from this movie until we were consigned this second one, which is a "country of origin" poster for this Italian movie!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster had fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines (typical of high-gloss posters of this period). It had a few tears in the borders. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects.
