eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result f003 ANOTHER NEW PARAMOUNT TALKARTOON one-sheet movie poster '32 Betty Boop Date Sold 4/3/2007Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Another New Paramount Talkartoon, the 1932 Fleischer Studios animated animation cartoon. Note that this poster features Fleischer's two biggest cartoon stars at this time, Betty Boop and Koko the Clown, along with Koko's sidekicks Bimbo the dog, and a baby (it would be a couple more years before Popeye would be introduced, and would eclipse both of these great early cartoon stars). It is rare to find cartoon posters that feature more than one major cartoon character on the same poster! Note too, that this poster pre-dates Betty Boop's individual cartoon series. She was introduced in the Paramount Talkartoon series, and quickly became so popular that she was given her own cartoon series. It is therefore quite possible that this poster is the first known depiction of Betty Boop on any movie poster, and quite possibly is the first movie poster on which she was ever depicted! Note that the poster is undated, but it has a litho number, and comparing this number to our massive database of litho numbers taken from actual movie posters, we can determine that this poster is almost certainly from 1932! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that the very first time this poster was offered for sale, it was in a Christie's auction. The poster had never been seen before, and it sold for $17,250! Since that time, two additional examples of the poster have surfaced, one in much lesser condition, and one in similar condition to that first poster. The poster offered here is the very same example of the poster that was in similar condition to the poster that sold for $17,250! Condition: fine. The poster has 2" of horizontal separation at the top crossfold, with the tiniest of paper loss. There is 1/2" of separation at the other two crossfolds, with the tiniest of paper loss at each. There is 1/2" of separation at the right end of the top foldline (in the blank border) and the tiniest of paper loss in the middle of the bottom border, and at the left end of the top foldline. The poster has very slightly darkened on the foldlines (our image exaggerates the amount of this darkening, because we did not want to completely flatten the poster for photography, so there is a "shadow" effect along the foldlines that makes them appear darker than they actually are). Other than these extremely minor defects, the poster is in really excellent condition, and it has had no restoration of any kind, either on the front or back, not even any tape.
