A 1966 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Alfred Hitchcock's North by Northwest, the classic 1959 Alfred Hitchcock New York City South Dakota romantic crime suspense thriller ("The Master of Suspense weaves his greatest tale... about a secret that nobody knew... a man who never existed... and a love affair that began in an upper berth - and ended in screaming death!"; "From the killer plane in the cornfield to the cliff-hanger on George Washington's nose, it's suspense in every direction!"; "The master of suspense spins his greatest tale"; "A train may be an old-fashioned way to travel, but an upper berth can be a lovely way to go - When It's Your Time To Go......"; "Breathless excitement that races from glittering Manhattan to the great stone faces of Mt. Rushmore!"; "Written by Ernest Lehman") starring Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, James Mason, Jessie Royce Landis, Leo G. Carroll, Martin Landau, Edward Platt, and Phillip Ober NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that, in 1966, MGM re-released this classic 1959 Alfred Hitchcock movie, and created new posters that most collectors feel are superior to that of the original! It has the classic scene of Cary Grant being chased by the crop-duster biplane, plus it shows Mt. Rushmore (and Hitchcock is one of the faces!), plus there is an image of Hitchcock holding a giant hand, plus there is a new tagline that reads, "Only Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock ever gave you so much suspense in so many directions so we brought it back!" Condition: good. The poster has major fading throughout, except for a thin strip down the right edge of the image. You can see by the color down that right edge what the original background color of the poster was. Other than the fading, the poster had tiny paper loss at the top crossfold and minor fold and border wear. The person who had the poster restored chose not to make the background the original color, because doing so would have required a huge amount of paint restoration. As it stands, the poster displays pretty well, and the new color is not unappealing, and I would think most people would think it might well be the original color. If I were to do additional restoration to this poster, I might well have the thin strip down the right side made to match the rest of the poster, rather than the reverse!
