Artist: Drew Struzan & Charles White
Important Added Info: Note that this poster was first printed in 1978 while Star Wars was still in continuous first release. Star Wars stayed in theaters for an incredibly long time, and Lucasfilm decided to "refresh" it's marketing with a new poster. In the book Star Wars Art: Posters, Drew Struzan reveals that "Charles White III was commissioned to create this new poster. Charlie had seen my work and decided to call me in as a collaborator. I painted the portraits, while he painted the hardware. Lucasfilm liked the artwork, but there was not enough space left open for the "billing block". Necessity being the mother of invention, we decided to enlarge the dimensions of the art to increase the open space and give the work an early-twentieth-century, wild-posted [wilding] circus-style look. So it came about that it took the two of us to paint what would come to be known as the "Circus" poster for its throwback style." This means that the "defects" in the poster are intentional, and are part of the image, and are not actual defects! Also, starting in the late 70's, both the National Screen Service and the movie studios would sometimes print posters for the same film. Both posters would have the same images and art but the studio-printed posters would lack the NSS identification numbers normally found at the bottom of posters printed by the National Screen Service. The poster offered here was printed by the National Screen Service and is 100% original.

Condition: very good. The poster has tiny, light indentations scattered along portions of the blank borders but other than a few light creases and very light fold and border wear the poster is in excellent condition!
