An Original Vintage Folded One-Sheet Circus Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm]) (Learn More) Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, the 1975 Richard Barstow (produced by Irvin and Kenneth Feld) Special Bicentennial Edition poster ("Alone in its greatness."; "The Greatest Show on Earth"; "200 years of circus in America") advertising the appearance of the circus in the town the poster was used! The modern version of the circus started in 1919 when the Barnum & Bailey's Greatest Show on Earth, a circus created by P. T. Barnum and James Anthony Bailey, was merged with the Ringling Bros. World's Greatest Shows. With weakening attendance and high operating costs, the circus closed on May 21st, 2017 after 146 years. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this is a stock poster created by Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey for use at all of their bicentennial shows. The poster has a blank area at bottom that was designed to be overprinted with the playdate and arena. This particular poster was overprinted for showings at Madison Square Garden in New York City! Also note that this one-sheet measures 27" x 40" [69 x 102 cm] but it has not been trimmed. Please do not bid on it thinking that it is 27" x 41". Condition: good to very good.
