An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Style A One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Going My Way, the classic 1944 Leo McCarey (winner of the Best Director Academy Award for this film) Catholic Church musical religious comedy (winner of the Best Picture Academy Award; about a brash young priest who is sent to a parish run by a gruff old priest, and he is supposed to replace him, but instead stays and solves all of the parish's problems while acting as the old priest's subordinate; the movie has one of the handful of greatest movie endings of all time!) starring Bing Crosby (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Father O'Malley), Barry Fitzgerald (winner of the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; the only person to ever be nominated for both Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor Academy Awards for the same performance; as Father Fitzgibbon), Frank McHugh, James Brown, Jean Heather, Gene Lockhart, Porter Hall, Fortunio Bonanova, Rise Stevens ("Famous Contralto of Metropolitan Opera Association"; note that her name is written with an umlaut over the "e" in her first name; her father was Norwegian, and her name is properly pronounced "REE-za", but most people have long forgotten that and pronounce it is as "rise" as in "sunrise"!), Stanley Clements, Carl 'Alfalfa' Switzer, and Adeline De Walt Reynolds (she didn't say a word in the movie, and is uncredited, but she plays Father Fitzgibbon's mother, and she is in one of the most memorable Hollywood endings of all time!; interestingly, she did not begin her acting career until 1940, when she was 78 years old, and continued acting for 20 years, last performing in 1960, when she was 98 years old!) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds and several small tears in the vertical foldline between the top and bottom crossfolds. There was an oval-shaped area of paper loss near the center of the poster, in Crosby's sleeve and the edge of Stevens' skirt. There were extra creases in the top and bottom horizontal folds. There were some pinholes, creases, and tears around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but you can see signs of the above restored defects. Learn More about condition grades
