An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Home Girl, 1928 Edmund Lawrence romantic melodrama short ("Great Stars and Authors Series"; from the story by Edna Ferber) starring Margalo Gillmore, Otto Kruger, Miriam Hopkins (in her first movie appearance!), Sylvia Field, and Vincent Lopez. Note that Paramount Pictures started a series of shorts, each based on a short story by a famous author, and we don't know if they were previously published stories that were adapted into these shorts, or if they were written directly for the screen, and despite the tagline "Great Stars", this short, which was the fourth in the series, featured not only not "great stars", but actresses who had never made a movie before! We were unable to find a plot summary, but this movie is significant because the three actresses who star in it were making their film debuts, especially Miriam Hopkins, who was 26 and went on to a very successful career (not so much Margalo Gilmore or Sylvia Field).
