An Original Vintage Comic Book (measures 7" x 10 1/4" [18 x 26 cm]) (Learn More) Colonel Nicholas Joseph Fury Sr. is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer and artist Jack Kirby and writer Stan Lee, Fury first appeared in Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos in 1963, but then, in 1965, the character was transformed by artist Jim Steranko into a spy (like James Bond) and leading agent of the fictional espionage agency S.H.I.E.L.D., and beginning in 1968, he appeared in his own comic "Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." The character has appeared in TV shows and the Avengers movies (played by Samuel L. Jackson)! Artist: Jim Steranko Important Added Info: Contents: Cover by Jim Steranko. "So Shall Ye Reap... Death!", script and pencils by Jim Steranko, inks by Frank Giacoia and Joe Giella (assist); (Page 5, panels 9 and 11 redrawn by John Romita Sr. to allow the issue to pass the Comics Code Authority); Jimmy Woo goes through a death-trap laden "fun house" as his initiation as a SHIELD agent; Later, in his apartment, Fury & Val get romantic; The next day, off the Pacific Coast, en route to the Heli-Carrier in a bizarre twin-bodied jet, Fury & Jimmy are knocked out of the sky and wind up on a volcanic island transformed into a "Garden of Eden" and biological laboratory by "Centurius" - formerly Dr. Noah Black, a scientist who disappeared in the 1930s when his theories were scoffed at; After creating both new & extinct forms of life and sending them into space, he plans to rain down fire on the entire Earth, for forty days and forty nights, cleansing it so his creations can start anew on a world "without the threat of mass murder, intimidation, fear"; With the help of a visiting movie company and their robot gorilla prop, Fury & Woo put the kibosh on his plans. Please note that we don't use a "comic guide" grading system, and OUR grading scale is completely different from standard comic book grading. Our "very good" is completely different from a comic book graded "very good". We provide images of the comic book covers, plus 2 interior 2-page spreads, which should allow you to get a sense of the condition of this comic book. This is one of an excellent collection of 138 vintage comic books we were consigned, which we are auctioning in 138 separate auctions. NONE of these comics have any restoration (unless noted in our condition description) and all of them came from a small group of collectors who purchased them mostly when they were first published, and none have been "slabbed" or "graded"! And EVERY one of these 138 comics (including some really excellent ones) start at $1 with truly no reserve. This is the kind of buying opportunity every comic book collector dreams of, and when these auctions close on January 16, every one of these comics will have a new owner! Condition: good to very good. Note that this comic book will be sent to the winning bidder in a brand new Mylite2 protective sleeve and a half-back 100% acid-free backing board.
