eMoviePoster.comAuction History Result 5p0812 PAA JAGT EFTER LYKKEN linen Danish 1920s great art of Charlie Chaplin from The Fireman, rare! Date Sold 12/19/2023Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Undated (likely 1926 to 1933; see below; from the first release of this movie in Denmark) Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Danish Movie Poster (measures 25 1/4" x 35 3/4" [64 x 91 cm]) (Learn More) Paa Jagt Efter Lykken (literally translates to "In the Pursuit of Happiness"), the 1930s (likely 1931) Danish compilation of Charlie Chaplin silent comedy shorts. The posters mention "9 acts" and we would imagine that it had nine Chaplin shorts. We have seen images of a Danish program for the compilation which mentions co-stars Edna Purviance and Eric Campbell, and featured an image from the 1916 short Behind the Screen. There appear to be two Danish posters for the compilation, a "regular" poster that features art of Charlie as The Tramp, and a "deluxe" version which features art of Charlie from the 1916 short The Fireman. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this Danish poster, and that was 6 years ago, when it sold for $1,024. That poster has now been reconsigned to us, so this is still the only example we have ever auctioned! Also note that the art on this poster shows Chaplin in The Fireman. We consulted with Danish poster experts, and have been told that "Kosmofilm" (in the lower left of the poster), was a company that was in business from 1926 to 1947. Further, the printer Chr.Cato changed their name to Recato in 1933. Therefore, this poster is surely from between 1926 and 1933. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had a vertical fold down the left third and one down the right quarter, with three horizontal folds. There was small paper loss in the crossfold that fell near the center of Chaplin's mustache and some tiny bits of paper loss on parts of other folds. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
