An Undated (probably 1970s) Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Italian Locandina Movie Poster (measures approximately 13" x 28") (Learn More) Papillon, the classic 1973 Franklin J. Schaffner French/U.S. prison escape crime adventure thriller ("The greatest adventure of escape!", "The greatest adventure of escape ever filmed!"; "Two men with nothing in common but a will to live and a place to die."; "Based on the book by Henri Charriere"; about the only man to ever escape from the famous French prison "Devil's Island") starring Steve McQueen (in the title role as as Henri 'Papillon' Charriere), Dustin Hoffman (as Louis Dega), Victor Jory, Don Gordon, and Anthony Zerbe NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: very good. The poster was folded across the middle. There was some fine surface paper loss across the fold and a few faint scuffs scattered in the image. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer linenbacked the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above, but they are really not at all distracting (and any restorer could easily touch them up without re-backing the poster).
