An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Title Lobby Card (LC TC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Raffles, the 1930 George Fitzmaurice & Harry d'Abbadie d'Arrast jewel thief romantic adventure crime thriller ("An Amazing Mystery Romance"; "From the stage & book sensation by E.W. Hornung and Eugene W. Presbrey") starring Ronald Colman (in the title role "as 'Raffles' Daring Gentleman Genius of Crime"), Kay Francis, Bramwell Fletcher, Frances Dade, David Torrence, and John Rogers. Note that Raffles was a master criminal and jewel thief in a series of 26 short stories and one novel written between 1898 and 1909. The first movie adaptation was in 1905, and it was followed by others in 1917 (with John Barrymore in the lead role), in 1925, and the first sound version was in 1930 with Ronald Colman, and finally, in 1939 with David Niven.

Important Added Info: Note that this title card is extremely rare. We have only previously auctioned it once before, and that was 13 years ago, when it sold for $384! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. The card had stains and darkening in the borders, with tiny tears and tiny paper loss in the right 3" of the top blank border and scattered down the right blank border. There were tears and paper loss in the top left corner slightly extending into the dark background. There was also water staining on the back of the top center of the card, but it mostly showed through to the front in the blank white border. Someone performed restoration to the above defects without backing the card, but they did use tape on the back of part of the top border (see our images). They left alone the small tears in the right blank border, perhaps assuming they would not show when the card is displayed in a frame. When the card is framed, it will display really well!
