An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Jumbo Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Libeled Lady, the 1936 Jack Conway romantic love triangle newspaper journalism comedy (nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; an extremely complicated story of an heiress, played by Myrna Loy, who sues a newspaper for libel, and the editor, played by Tracy, is afraid he will lose, so he hires Powell to catch Loy in a compromising situation with the help of his girlfriend, played by Harlow, who will instead temporarily marry Powell to make the scheme work, but of course, Powell and Loy end up actually falling in love, and everything works out in the end) starring Jean Harlow, William Powell, Myrna Loy, Spencer Tracy, Walter Connolly, and Inez Palange (uncredited as the fortune teller). Can anyone imagine today's studios making a movie with so many top level stars? It is extremely rare to see three top stars in any movie, but this movie had four of the all-time greatest, and it is a thoroughly enjoyable movie! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been paperbacked. What is paperbacking? This means the poster was backed onto a light paper backing (acid-free), that is similar in feel to that of the original poster (it means that the poster must be handled carefully, as the backing does not give it much added strength, but it is similar to having an unrestored poster, and yet it has been properly preserved). It is a similar process to linenbacking, except that most collectors use linenbacking for one-sheets and paperbacking for half-sheets, inserts, window cards. Condition: good. The poster had a long series of jagged tears running roughly across the upper center of the poster. One tear started in Powell's neck and shirt, and runs diagonally through his cheek and upper nose, up into Loy's credit, and then continued both up into Powell's credit and down and across the center of the title. There was paper loss in the upper right corner of the image extending into the last "L" of "POWELL". There was a tear between Loy and Tracy's face with paper loss in Tracy's chin, and in Harlow's finger beneath that. There were some smudges in the yellow background areas and some creases and small tears around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to paperbacking. The poster was pretty well backed, but while you can see signs of the above defects and the restoration of the above defects, they are not all that distracting, but they are somewhat noticeable, even from a reasonable viewing distance.
