It is interesting to note that this movie talks about how awful Folsom Prison USED to be, and that it is a "model prison" in 1951 (when the movie was made), and yet it was apparently this movie that Johnny Cash saw and which inspired him to write "Folsom Prison Blues", which describes how awful the conditions are there (I guess your view of how good the prison is is greatly colored by whether you are an inmate or an observer!).
