An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures approximately 3" x 4") (Learn More) Jack London's Queen of the Yukon, the 1940 Phil Rosen Monogram Alaska riverboat gambling casino adventure cowboy western (based on the Jack London story) starring Charles Bickford, Irene Rich, June Carlson, Dave O'Brien, and L. Stanford Jolley (in an uncredited role as a miner). Note that some of the posters for this movie show a gambling casino where "faro" is played. This gambling game is completely forgotten today, but in the 1800s, it was THE most popular game, because a smart player could get exactly even odds on all their bets, something not true in any other gambling game. In the 1970s, the Stardust casino in Las Vegas attempted to "bring back" faro, but there was little interest, except among quite elderly gamblers, and since it didn't make the casino any money, it was quickly abandoned! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). We have taken a digital photo of each that shows the general condition of the overall slide and holder, and we have also made a digital scan that shows the glass image well, but does not show the holder (except as a dark outline). Condition: very good. Learn More about condition grades
