An Original Vintage Theatrical Paperbacked Style A Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) George Stevens' Penny Serenade, the 1941 George Stevens troubled marriage romantic melodrama ("The rapture and ecstasy of love at first sight...the heart-strings music of a first 'I Love You'..."; "Remember the tune they were singing...the night we fell in love?"; "This 'Penny Serenade' is the kind of music a man plays on a woman's heart-strings..."; "The kind of love story you've always wanted for these grand stars!"; "Based on the McCall's Magazine novel by Martha Cheavens"; about a woman about to leave her husband, and she reflects on all the good times in their marriage and what caused the problems) starring Irene Dunne (after Grant and Dunne's credit it says, "Excitingly Together Again", or "Excitingly Reunited" one some other posters, referencing "My Favorite Wife", which they had made together the year before), Cary Grant (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film), Beulah Bondi, Edgar Buchanan, Ann Doran, and Eva Lee Kuney NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: fine. This poster was paperbacked and during the backing process, its extremely minor defects were repaired and it now looks really great! We only assigned this grade ("fine") to posters that were in really excellent condition prior to paperbacking, AND which were paperbacked by a top professional! The poster was never folded. There were many creases and scuffs throughout the top half of the poster, and also some scuffs around the edges of the bottom half of the image. The borders of the poster had creases, tears, and pinholes. The person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to paperbacking. The paperbacking process has greatly minimized the poster's many creases and scuffs. You really don't see them at all when looking at the poster straight on. The poster was well backed, and looks great! Learn More about condition grades
