Date Sold 9/24/2024Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Autographed Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Enchanted Cottage, the classic 1945 John Cromwell fantasy romantic melodrama ("Based on the Play by Sir Arthur Wing Pinero"; "The whole town whispered about these two!"; "While others whispered 'Scandal' their hearts found the miracle of love!"; "The lovers of 'Claudia'"; "Hiding from prying eyes in an enchanted refuge... daring to live as they have dreamed... sharing an adventure in ecstasy!"; "Back in that strange world called 'Home' a pilot finds his dreams are shattered... a girl despairs of ever being adored... 'til they meet by a miracle of love and keep a rendezvous with rapture!"; about two 'ugly' people who find a magical cottage where they look 'normal'; the studio copped out by not having the stars look very "ugly" before they transform, so much of the point of the movie is diluted!) starring Dorothy McGuire, Robert Young (McGuire and Young are billed as "the Lovers of 'Claudia'"), Herbert Marshall, Mildred Natwick, Spring Byington, Hillary Brooke, and Richard Gaines NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this lobby card has been personally autographed (signed) by BOTH Dorothy McGuire AND Robert Young! Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Our consignor purchased this (and other signed cards, which we previously auctioned) from an estate sale of some of David Gest's belongings, including many lobby cards. Mr. Gest was a lobby card collector since the 1970s, and he was a close personal friend of Michael Jackson's (and later married to Liza Minnelli!), and he certainly had many opportunities to meet the celebrities who signed his cards, so we feel 100% certain that the autographs we are offering from his collection are genuine (but the auction house our consignor purchased them from did not issue certificates of authenticity). We are now auctioning the final four cards we were consigned from this cool estate sale (in four separate auctions), and after this, we will have no more of these, unless we are reconsigned any. Condition: very good to fine. There are two pieces of tape on the back of the center of two borders, but they were not put there for any restoration purpose. Learn More about condition grades
