An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Standee (measures 50" x 83 1/2" [127 x 212 cm]) (Learn More) Dirty Harry, the classic 1971 Don Siegel San Francisco California police detective action crime thriller ("Detective Harry Callahan. He doesn't break murder cases. He smashes them."; "You don't assign him to murder cases. You just turn him loose."; "Dirty Harry and the homicidal maniac. Harry's the one with the badge."; about an unorthodox cop who tracks down a psychotic murderer; based on the real-life Zodiac killer who terrorized San Francisco, California in the 1960s) starring Clint Eastwood (in the title role as Harry Callahan), Harry Guardino, Reni Santoni, Andrew Robinson (in the role of his life as the crazed psycho killer!; billed as "Andy Robinson"), John Larch, John Vernon ("as 'The Mayor'"), Lyn Edington, and Bill Couch NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that the last time we auctioned an example of this standee, it sold for $5,350! How did this survive? This classic movie had a very imaginative ad campaign, with striking (and different) images for the one-sheet, three-sheet, insert, half-sheet, and six-sheet. Until 2007, we THOUGHT we had seen an example of every poster from this campaign, but that year we were consigned an example of this amazing die-cut standee, with Eastwood standing full length with his .44 magnum handgun (the most powerful handgun there is!) pointed in front of him in the classic shooting pose! Since 2007, we have auctioned three additional examples of this standee, but two of those were the same standee, so we have previously auctioned a total of three of these, and now we have been consigned this fourth example. We can't imagine all that many theaters got this standee when the movie opened (for it was the first in the series, and completely unknown that it would be such a hit), and of the theaters that DID get it, I would think the vast majority of them were trashed soon after the movie played, especially because it is die-cut and three-dimensional, and therefore had a far greater likelihood of being broken into pieces. There may be a fifth example of this somewhere, but there surely are very few of these surviving! IMPORTANT! This standee folds across the middle, which is good, but it means that even after it is folded, it needs to be shipped in a very large oversized flat package that measures approximately 43" x 52". This will cost a significant amount to send in the U.S., so incorporate that in the amount you bid, and realize that it will be massively expensive to ship outside the U.S., so only bid if you live outside the U.S. if you are willing to pay that massive shipping charge. Condition: good to very good. The die-cut gun in the top right was creased over. Someone glued a piece of white board to the back of the gun and hand to reinforce that area, so that it can't have the same thing occur again, and they did a nice job (see our images of the front and back). There are a few smudges and scuffs in Eastwood's clothes and in the letters, but they are not very distracting. This great standee will display wonderfully just as it is, or certainly, one could choose to have slight additional restoration performed. Either way, they will have the ultimate "Dirty Harry" promotional poster to display! Learn More about condition grades
